Seminar on E-Commerce and Digital Economy for Cambodia held

On the morning of April 20th, the opening ceremony of "Cambodia E-commerce and Digital Economy Training Course" hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of China and organized by CIFAL Shanghai is held  in Shanghai.

Ms. Liu Beimin, a senior researcher at the Foreign Economic Affairs Department of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, and Mr. Wang Genxiang, the director of the training center, attended the class opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Mr. Im Koy, Director of the Legal Affairs Department of the Ministry of Commerce of Cambodia, delivered a speech on behalf of the trainees of the training course. The class opening ceremony was presided over by Mr. Wu Yugang, Executive Deputy Director of the Training Center.

Researcher Liu Beimin pointed out in her speech that China and Cambodia have a long-standing traditional friendship, the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries is constantly deepening, economic and trade exchanges are becoming increasingly close, and cooperation results are fruitful. Both China and Cambodia should seize the opportunity of the formal entry into force of the China Cambodia Free Trade Agreement and RCEP, actively explore new ideas for carrying out China Cambodia digital cooperation, expanding cross-border e-commerce scale, and promoting more high-quality products to the markets of both countries. She hopes that by sharing successful experiences and policy measures in the development of e-commerce and digital economy in China and even Shanghai, the seminar can provide valuable insights and development ideas for students in promoting the development of e-commerce and information technology applications in their respective countries; It is also hoped that through their study and life in Shanghai, the students can more truly understand China's (especially Shanghai) economy, society, traditional culture and other aspects, further enhance the traditional friendship between China and Cambodia, jointly promote economic and trade exchanges and cultural exchanges between the two countries, make contributions to building a closer community of shared future between China and Cambodia, and jointly write a bright future for China Cambodia cooperation.

Director Wang Genxiang welcomed the students who participated in this training course, expressed gratitude for the strong support and comprehensive guidance provided by the Ministry of Commerce of China and the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce for the smooth holding of the training course, and introduced the activity arrangement of the training course and the basic situation of the training center. He pointed out that the "Cambodia E-commerce and Digital Economy Seminar" will focus on the development of e-commerce and digital economy, and discuss with the students new developments and changes in the field of Digital transformation in the new era. He hopes to share China's experience and lessons in Digital transformation construction, digital economy construction, e-commerce development, digital technology application and other fields through the seminar, and jointly look forward to the future development of the digital industry, so as to promote economic and technological exchanges in related industries between the two sides, while expanding consensus, deepening cooperation, and jointly building a community of shared future in cyberspace.

Mr. Im Koy first thanked the Ministry of Commerce of China for providing learning opportunities and the training center for their meticulous organization in his speech. He said that Cambodia attaches great importance to the development of digital economy and has identified the development of digital economy as a new economic growth model. In February 2022, the Cambodian government announced the implementation of the "2022-2035 Cambodia Digital Government Policy", which includes 139 specific measures and proposes five major development goals. Since the implementation of this policy framework, the Cambodian government has always regarded it as a new opportunity to improve productivity, efficiency, and economic competitiveness. He hopes to learn the experience and lessons of China's e-commerce development, digital economy construction, Digital transformation and digital governance through the seminar. He will combine what he has learned in the seminar with his practical work, making a modest contribution to the development of e-commerce and digital economy in Cambodia. He also hopes to not only learn a lot of knowledge from the seminar, enhance communication, promote further cooperation between China and Cambodia, but also be committed to the development of the digital economy and create a better future for the world together.

At the end of the class opening ceremony, the guests and all the students took a group photo as a souvenir. This training course will last for 20 days, with a total of 24 participants from the Legal Affairs Department, Economic Reform Department, Trade Promotion Department, and Telecommunications Policy and Regulations Department of the Ministry of Commerce of Cambodia.
