On the morning of April 29, Mr. WANG Genxiang, Director of the Shanghai Global Science and Technology Innovation Center (SGSTIC) of UNIDO, Mr. WU Yugang, Director of the Shanghai International Intelligent Manufacturing Promotion Center (SIIMPC) of UNIDO met with Mr. MU Changshun, Director of Shandong Province Office in Shanghai, Mr. LIFeng, Deputy Director of Shandong Province Office in Shanghai, Mr. YU Qingli,Director of Jinan Municipal Office in Shanghai, Mr. YUE Shuangrong, Director of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Equipment Industry Division in Jinan City and Mr. WANG Huaigeng, Deputy Director of Jinan Economic and Information Technology Committee, to discuss potential collaborations in the area of Intelligent Manufacturing.

 

Welcome addressed by Director MU from Shandong Province Office in Shanghai. Director WANG from SGSTIC, gave a brief introduction to the team’s long-term cooperation with UNIDO as well as the status of the UNIDO Global Science and Technology Innovation project. Director WU from SIIMPC, briefed on the relevant background and implementation of the Intelligent Manufacturing project.

 

Director YUE from Ministry of Industry and Inforamtion Technology Equipment Industry Division introduced the economic,social and industrial development circumstances in Jinan City while Deputy Director WANG elaborated in domestic and international collaboration of Jinan City.

 

Participants had a fruitful discussion on the cooperation between SIIMPC and Shandong (Jinan). As the provincial capital of Shandong, Jinan integrates political, cultural, educational, economic, transportation and science and technology centers in one, with location advantages, abundant scientific and educational cultural resources and strong industrial foundation. However, industrial transformation in Jinan’s Industrial sector is clearly in order. In 2018, the State Council listed Jinan as a leading zone for the transformation of new and old kinetic energy with a series of policy backup. UNIDO was established in 1966 and formally transformed into a specialized agency of the United Nations in June 1985. The mission of UNIDO, as described in the Lima Declaration adopted at the fifteenth session of the UNIDO General Conference in 2013, is to promote and accelerate inclusive and sustainable industrial development (ISID) in Member States.

 

Both sides agreed that in the current context,it is of great significance to form a solid collaboration between UNIDO Intelligent Manufacturing Project and Jinan City. Initiatives as constructing IM cooperation platform as well as jointly holding Intelligent Manufacturing Conference,will help to accelerate the high-end, high-quality and high-efficiency (3H) development of Jinan's Intelligent Manufacturing industry and promote the transformation of new and old kinetic energy. On the other hand, this is a great opportunity for UNIDO SIIMPC to expand the beneficiary of this intervention, and use lessons gained from this pilot initiative in other developing countries and regions.
