CIFAL Shanghai attended “The Third International Congress on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET)”

On behalf of UNITAR and as its institutional partner, CIFAL Shanghai,was invited to “The Third International Congress on Technical and Vocational Education and Training”.


Ms. LIU Yandong, State Counsellor of P. R. China. Mr. WAN Gang, Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology, P. R. China Mr. HAN Zheng, Mayor of Shanghai Municipal Government, attended the opening ceremony on the morning of the 14th. “The Third International Congress on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET)” was organized by UNESCO, Ministry of Education, P.R.China, Ministry of Science and Technology, P.R.China, and hosted by Shanghai Municipal Government, at Shanghai International Convention Center from May 14th to 16th, 2012.


Ms. LIU Yandong stressed in the opening ceremony that as an integral part of modern educational system, TVET was oriented towards all people and society, with a positive role to play in employability, prosperity, equity and poverty reduction. The Chinese government attaches great importance to TVET and the construction of modern education system, with the adherence to the linkage between industry and education, so as to cultivate a larger number of high-qualified talents. She called for the world to strengthen international cooperation and exchange, to learn from each other and develop together on the basis of equality and mutual benefit, cooperation and win-win situation. In this way, TVET can prove its value in terms of promoting economic development and social development in an all-round way.


Under the theme of "building skills for work and life", the congress has attracted more than 800 representatives from 117 member states of UNESCO, and 72 international organizations. During the three day congress, participants have carried out active discussions on the topic of TVET in China:Development and Challenges.


CIFAL Shanghai will attach greater importance on education and training of higher quality and better mobilization of various resources, and will make great effort to facilitate the TVET system construction, so to enhance its attention to the public.
