Director WANG Genxiang and Deputy Director WU Yugang of CIFAL Shanghai visited the Public Administration Division of United Nations Economic and Social Affairs Division on April 20th, 2012.  They met Miss QIAN Haiyan, Director of Division for Public Administration and Development Management, UNDESA and reported the preparation programme for the 2012 Global City Informatization Forum (GCIF). Miss QIAN affirmed the preparatory work and hopes to continue to do efforts for hosting of the 2012 GCIF successfully in order to achieve the United Nations “Millennium Development Goals, bridging the digital divide.”

United Nations Economic and Social Affairs, agreed the 2012 GCIF on the theme of "smart city construction and development”. And initially identified the  Forum will be held in Shanghai on October 29th – 31st, 2012. Meanwhile, both sides also made a serious discussion and confirmation about the invitation of speakers on the Fforum and other related matters.
