This Thursday (August 4th), six representatives from the Municipality of Shanghai, one of the most populous and developed metropolises of China, were gathered at Cietep, in Curitiba, to get to know the main projects and actions of Fiep (Federation of Industries of the State of Paraná) System in Paraná. The visit, coordinated by the International Training Centre for Local Authorities and Local Actors for Latin America (Cifal Curitiba) is oriented towards institutional partnership and exchange of experiences between Cifal Shanghai and Cifal Curitiba, and to the possibility of identifying business opportunities between the Paraná capital and the Chinese city.

The visit was divided into three moments. During the morning, the representatives got to know a little more about there capital, the transport system, and the industrial city of Curitiba (CIC), one of the city's neighbourhoods with the highest concentration of industries. Later on, they visited computer company Positivo Informática and received information on the role of the industries in the State's economy and development.

In the afternoon, the Shanghai representatives had the opportunity of getting acquainted with Fiep System's actions related to education, innovation, and participation of the industry in city development. These actions were presented by Fiep System collaborators who spoke about important initiatives of the organisation for the development of Paraná, such as activities carried out by the International Business Centre of Paraná (CIN), the International Innovation Centre (C2i), Sesi/Senai Observatories, Local Development Agents Programme, Senai Paraná, FIEP's Investment & Development Department, Regional Observatory of Sustainability Indicators (Orbis), and Cifal Curitiba itself.

According to the Director of the Internet and Economy Consulting Centre of the Municipality of Shanghai, Wang Genxiang, the visit in Curitiba made it possible for representatives to identify new forms of work to be carried out by the Chinese metropolis. Genxiang also highlighted the experience of getting the know Curitiba's transport and urbanism system, as well as Fiep System's work in Paraná. "I was impressed by the Federation's work in the development of Paraná's industry and in the involvement with issues related to the development of cities in the State ", he said.
